American Stroke Month

I just returned from a trip to visit my father-in-law who recently suffered a stroke; and I would like to share with you some information from the American Heart Association.  Please make stroke awareness a priority in your life and enlighten those around you.  In many cases, stroke may be prevented.

Stroke is the No. 4 cause of death and a leading cause of severe, long-term disability inAmerica. Yet, only 2 percent of those recently surveyed consider stroke the leading health issue and only 7 percent think of stroke as a major health concern.

There are other ways you and your family can empower yourselves during American Stroke Month — and throughout the year. For example, you can take the American Stroke Association’s What’s Your Stroke I.Q. Quiz and share it with others. The quiz tests your knowledge of stroke risk factors and warning signs, healthy behaviors and what to do if someone suffers a stroke.
